MEET JOHN A. STURGES, MD
John A. Sturges, MD is a board-certified Family Physician and owns a solo private practice in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where he has been practicing medicine for the last 30+ years. Before moving to Coeur d’Alene, he worked 5 years for an ER group. He graduated from Loma Linda University Medical School in 1986 and completed his Family Practice Residency in Hinsdale, Illinois in 1989. As a solo practitioner, Dr. Sturges has been able to incorporate innovative and integrative approaches with traditional medicine. He looks at all the factors that influence health, wellness and disease. He believes it is important to treat the whole person rather than symptoms only. It is important for him to establish a therapeutic relationship with his patients. He has been early to adopt new and successful therapies to treat depression, PTSD, migraines, and addiction. Spravato®, IV Ketamine, NAD+ and regenerative medicine are some examples that have been life-changing for many patients.
MEET ERIKA J. SULLIVAN, FNP
Erika Sullivan is a Family Nurse Practitioner who has worked at Sturges Family Practice since 2016. She provides primary medical care for all ages. She started her medical career as an LPN and later received her associates degree in nursing at Skagit Valley College in 2001. Upon graduation, she returned to North Idaho and began working at Kootenai Health on the surgical floor. During her 15-year nursing career, she completed her Bachelor's Degree in nursing at Lewis and Clark State College and went on to obtain her Masters in Nursing at Gonzaga University in 2015. Erika has been providing primary care services at Sturges Family Practice since 2016.
Growing up north of Bonners Ferry, she loves any outdoor activity and spending time with her family and friends. She is passionate about helping others be their best selves and achieving good health.
MEET KATELYNN SCHUMACHER, FNP
Katelynn Schumacher was born and raised in Lewiston, Idaho where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lewis-Clark State College in 2015. For eight years, Katelynn has dedicated herself to the healthcare profession, serving as an Emergency Department nurse at Kootenai Health. Katelynn furthered her education by obtaining her Master’s degree in nursing from United States University. During that time, she completed her practicum at Sturges Family Practice and was quickly recruited to the team upon her graduation in 2023.
Passionate about empowering others to achieve optimal health and well-being, Katelynn approaches each patient encounter with empathy, integrity, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in their lives. She is deeply committed to helping her patients become the best versions of themselves, guiding them on their journey towards improved health and vitality.
In her spare time, Katelynn enjoys a variety of outdoor ventures including fishing, skiing, and camping as well as spending time with her friends, family, and red Labrador, Copper."
